The Melchizedek priesthoodNow, I'm glad you brought up the priesthood.
No, Estragon, the Lord never told his disciples to offer up the flesh and blood of Christ as a "sacrifice" at all! In fact He said that no man could take His life! Joh 10:17 "Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 no man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again." No, Estragon, the sacrifices that God desires from his people are not the carnal offerings which Rome propagates. The sacrifices God desires are for us to do His will, as Jesus and Ignatius have both testified above... Heb 13:15 "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." Heb 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure... 8 "Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; 9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second." Jesus did that blood sacrifice once and for all, and that settled the whole matter of sacrificing dead things on an altar! Now, let's compare just a few of the qualifications that were required, that Jesus fulfilled, in order to be a priest after the order of Melchizedek, and find whether Roman Catholic priests fulfil those requirements or not... * Jesus sacrifice made Him that did the service perfect- He didn't need to sacrifice for himself. Roman Catholic priests are hardly perfect, and also need to go to "confession" and take the "Mass." * Jesus' priesthood did away with carnal ordinances. The Roman Catholic priesthood is absolutely full of carnal ordinances (from the required roundness of the cakes, to the exact number of genuflections, etc.). * Jesus did not have to sacrifice Himself often. The Roman Catholic priests have to sacrifice their Mass often. * The priesthood of both Jesus, and Melchizedek was without descent- they received their priesthood's from no man. It did not descend to them through men. The Roman Catholic priesthood is descended from one man to the next. I'm sure there are more, but this is enough for now. by TomR.
