"I fully understand that you think you're capable of (being Catholic AND Christian at the same time), but here are the facts..."Hello Estragon, I hope you feel up to a challenge to your information. First, I just want you to know this is nothing personal, but neither is this a game. I am not writing to condemn you, but that you may be able to see the other side of the issue, and the facts according to history concerning the subjects we are discussing. Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. (For the sake of the "voluminously challenged" I will state my conclusions briefly in the beginning of this post, and follow with the supporting documentation as optional.) 1) First off, Peter was not the rock that Christ was talking about in Matthew 16 upon which He would build His church (as has been mentioned somewhere). 2) The papal institution in Rome is by no means the true Church of Christ, nor does it practice the "one faith" as it was once delivered by the apostles as Jesus commanded them. 3) The Roman Catholic Church has a long history of: 1. False statements deliberately presented as being true; falsehoods, 2. Saying things meant to deceive or give a wrong impression, 3. Presenting false information with the intention of deceiving, 4. Conveying false images and impressions, 5. The intent to cause to be in a specific condition or affect in a specific way by telling falsehoods. 4) The historical evidence proves conclusively that baptism in the early church (until about the second or third century) was originally ministered exclusively by invoking the name of Jesus Christ, and not at all while invoking the titles "Father, Son, and Holy Ghost." 5) Jesus warned us not to listen to liars who called themselves apostles, and commends us for not doing so. 6) Jesus condemned the Roman Catholic Church, calling her, and thereby identifying her, by her very own ancient, and unique nickname and trademark: "the City of Seven Hills." Warning: If any readers are at all offended, or perturbed by long expanses of information of factual historical data, and scriptural quotations- the following may be disagreeable to your temperament! Have a nice day! ;-) by TomR. Please continue with 1) Peter was NOT the rock that Christ was talking about in Matthew 16 upon which He would build His church. by TomR |
